**Job Summary:** Engineering Shift Supervisor responsible for overseeing bus fleet maintenance, supervising mechanics, and ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and available for service. The Engineering Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the bus fleet. This position involves supervising a team of mechanics and technicians, coordinating daily work schedules, and ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. **Key Responsibilities:** * Lead and manage a team of mechanics and technicians responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing buses * Assign daily tasks and manage workload distribution to ensure timely and efficient vehicle servicing * Support the team to ensure they meet quality and safety standards and complete maintenance work to the highest standards * Prioritize and plan maintenance activities based on operational needs, minimizing vehicle downtime * Work with the Engineering Manager to plan for long-term maintenance needs and major repairs or overhauls * Conduct regular quality checks and inspections on completed work to ensure adherence to safety and technical standards * Assist mechanics in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues * Ensure vehicles are returned to service promptly after repairs, maintaining high safety and performance standards * Monitor inventory levels of parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair * Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working order * Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture within the workshop * Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections * Prepare and submit regular reports on vehicle maintenance, team performance, and fleet condition **Knowledge and Skills Requirements:** * Previous experience in a supervisory role within the bus or transport industry, with strong technical knowledge of bus maintenance and repair * Expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on buses and vehicles * Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of mechanics * Strong knowledge of fleet management software, scheduling tools, and vehicle maintenance processes **Competencies:** * Category B or D Driving licence * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal * Ability to work autonomously and make decisions * Excellent attention to detail * Work well under pressure, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines * Positive attitude to health and safety **Key Safety Responsibilities:** * Act in a manner to ensure the health, safety, welfare, environment, and fire safety of yourself and others * Ensure that you and any guests to company premises understand emergency and evacuation arrangements * Ensure your working environment is maintained in a safe and tidy condition * Act proactively in identifying and reporting any unsafe practices or safety risks * Ensure adherence to all relevant company and group policies and procedures
