Job Description

Engineering Technician - Packaging: South Dublin. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining fully automated, high-volume, high-speed packaging machines at optimal performance. This role will act as the SME for the equipment, and will be responsible for closely monitoring performance, identifying issues, seeing them through to conclusion and working through preventative measures to improve machine performance. Responsibilities: Identify and drive OEE and waste improvements Provide direct support to the production and maintenance teams to resolve daily issues and assist with troubleshooting. Apply learnings from breakdowns and performance issues to improve the preventative maintenance practices. Planning for any repairs, overhauls or improvement work, including the management of spare parts requirements. Liaise with vendors, suppliers and local engineering shops. To become involved in analysing customer complaints and internal quality issues, and assist in drawing up improvements and preventative actions to eliminate these defects being produced. Assist with training of other engineering technicians, new recruits and apprentices as required. Fully participate in company-wide continuous improvement initiatives, working in teams as required and utilising appropriate quality tools as applicable Maintain appropriate recording and reporting systems on all engineering related matters (e.g. breakdowns, maintenance etc). Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping to ensure area, machines and equipment are maintained in a safe and clean condition. Correct and/or report unsafe conditions and other faults. Experience and Education requirements: Good knowledge of the Mechanical and Electrical Systems associated with high-volume manufacturing equipment and hold a third-level qualification in one of those disciplines, or the National Craft Certificate together with additional specialised training and experience. Relevant industrial experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment Previous experience working on packaging equipment would be preferred (although not essential), particularly Schubert machines Some experience with automation would be preferred. The ability to apply a scientific approach to problem-solving, blending analytical and experimental skills to maximise productivity and yields Excellent interpersonal and communication skills The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative Relevant PC skills Skills: engineering technician manufacturing technician process technician
