Job Title: Enhanced Staff Nurse - Oncology Reports: Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) Accountable: Director of Nursing Hours: 37.5 hours per week We are seeking to recruit a Enhanced Staff Nurse to join the Oncology team in our Florence Nightingale Unit. As a member of the front-line Nursing team, the Oncology Staff Nurse will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, quality patient care initiatives and facilitate effective interpersonal communication with colleagues in the Department and in the hospital. The Staff Nurse will participate in providing comprehensive nursing care to patients using evidence-based practice and adjusting resources to ensure continuity of care. The main duties of the role are to: Deliver skilled practical care to Oncology and Palliative Care patients and participate in the monitoring of the planning, delivery, and evaluation of individualised patient care, ensuring a patient centred focus. Administer chemotherapeutic drugs in accordance with local policy and guidelines, keeping patient and staff safety a priority. Be aware of the multifaceted needs of oncology and Palliative patients and provide a holistic support service for them and their families. Flexible approach to rostering Willingness to rotate between inpatient unit and Oncology day unit. Participate in oncology outpatient clinic co-ordination. Be aware of community-based support for oncology and Palliative patients. Supervise the nursing practice of less experienced staff members and Student nursesand participate in the educational aspects of that practice. Be aware of the multifaceted needs of emergency, medical and surgical patients and provide a holistic support service for them and their families. ?Practise within the Codes of Practice, Rules and Guidelines set out by the Nursing and Midwifery board of Ireland (NMBI) and comply with the policies and procedures of Blackrock Clinic. Essential Criteria Full Registration in the General division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI. At least one-year recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting Chemotherapy Competence preferred but not essential. Training will be given onsite. A recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or Post Grad course in Oncology is desirable or be willing to undertake same. Hold an up-to-date Basic Life Support course or be in pursuit of same Strong clinical and professional ability IT skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Competency in English language both written and spoken.
