Job Description
Galway City Council seeks Executive Engineers across various disciplines for its Transportation, Housing, Environment & Climate Change, and Recreation & Amenity departments. The successful candidates will provide advisory, supervisory, or executive services, reporting to Senior Executive Engineers.
The Executive Engineer will work as part of a team, performing tasks such as implementing engineering programs, supervising staff, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
The duties may include:
- Implementing engineering programs in roads, traffic, wastewater, housing, recreation, and environment
- Supervising and contract administering construction/operations/maintenance works
- Managing direct labour/engineering/administrative workforce and industrial relations issues
- Preparing budgets and ensuring works are implemented within allocated budgets
- Maintaining a culture of Health & Safety in the workplace and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations
- Educating and training staff to operate within relevant skill sets
- Ensuring an efficient and effective response to stakeholders
- Representing the Council at meetings with staff, elected members, community groups, businesses, and residents
- Performing other duties as reasonably assigned to the grade
