Have completed at least 5 years post apprenticeship in a trade Have a minimum of 2 years working in a Facilities / Maintenance Department Have previous experience managing a team of various disciplines.

The role Facilities Foreperson 1.0 WTE Full Time, Permanent Contract The main function of the Facilities Foreperson in St Patricks Mental Health Services is to assist in ensuring the structural safety and appropriateness of the building for the provision of service user care and support activities.

The Facilities Foreperson will report to the Facilities Technical Officer.

The standard working week applying to the post 39 hours.

Monday to Thursday 7:30am 4.00pm, and 7:30am to 3.00pm Friday.

Location St Patricks Hospital, Jamess Street, Dublin 8, incorporating St Patricks Hospital Lucan and all SPMHS Dean Clinics.


Responsibilities Assist with managing department staff Will chair weekly interdepartmental meetings and provide minutes from same Will ensure staff training is up to date Will manage team members time keeping and assist with salary returns Will implement a staff mentoring programme Will manage department workorder system and implement a plan to ensure efficiency and report weekly on same Deputise for Assistant Facilities Manager when required Issue fortnightly report to Facilities Technical Officer / Assistant Facilities Manager updating on any relevant information related to your role Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met To react and assist in Fire Alarm management and investigations and any other unforeseen emergencies Investigate complaints and incidents as relevant to the Facilities department and be competent to issue a formal report Assist with the management of all contractors on site ensuring contractors induction is completed and required documentation is received Be responsible for the overall maintenance all SPMHS sites to ensure it is maintained to a high standard Assist with carrying out weekly/monthly critical testing on any SPMHS location Manage and maintain building comfort levels by monitoring the BMS system Maintain the Hospitals access and control systems to include keeping the Salto access control system in proper working order through monitoring of all online locks and completing regular manual updates of all offline locks Assisting with emergency preparedness planning and practice Assist Trades person/s on specific tasks as required Ensure all inhouse and contractor PPMS are completed and logged in the appropriate timelines Assist to ensure that the Department complies with all M.

Standards Carry out as part of a team, the Legionella preventative plan Operate and maintain all hospital vehicles as and when required Operation of Telescopic boom/hoist to carryout repairs, surveys and maintenance to roofs, gutters, and other structures after appropriate training Assist in Updating Business Continuity Plan as and when required Carry a designated phone and pager for communication purposes and enacting the appropriate response Manage waste management procedures to comply with legislation Will be willing to participate with all future technology developments relevant to the department e.g., CMMS and assist with developing same Will be competent and willing to undertake multiple trade tasks such as plumbing, carpentry and electrical Will manage workshop and all stores to ensure they are kept safe and clean, also ensuring all staff have received appropriate training on all equipment and tools Will implement and update under the guidance of the Facilities Technical Officer all SOPs related to the Facilities Department Will ensure daily and weekly tasks are planned and delegated to all team members and completed in appropriate timelines Will manage the ordering of required materials for the department to ensure a timely delivery of same is achieved Will manage spare parts and consumable stocks to ensure all is stored in an organised manner and stock levels are maintained Will be available to be flexible to work outside of normal working hours to fulfil the demands of the role To participate in On Call Roster as and when required This Job Description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties.

Working Week:
The standard hours applying to this position is 39 hours per week.

Salary:

The salary for the position is on the SPMHS 2024 Foreperson pay scale €50,682 - €53,658 and is depending on experience.

Annual Leave The annual leave associated with the position is 23 days.

Pension:
All pensionable staff become members of the pension scheme after successful completion of probation.

The scheme is a defined contribution scheme with a deduction from the salary of the employee of 4%.

In respect of an internal appointment being made, the individuals existing pension arrangements will continue.

Probation:

The appointee will be appointed in a probationary capacity for the first six months during which time the job holders performance will be subject to ongoing review.


Any extension to or suspension of the period of probation will be in line with the European Union (Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions) 2022.


Health:

The appointee must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the position and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.


Character:
The appointee must be of good character.

Retirement Age:
Normal retirement age for employees is 66 years which at present is also normal pension age.
