Job Description
Seeking a Finance Manager to coordinate and control complex accounting functions for a global leader in the life science sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background and excellent communication skills.
As a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing monthly financial reports, annual financial statements, and other internal or external reports in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Managing the performance of the team, ensuring the 'Can do' process is maintained, SMART goals are set, and team members receive relevant and timely feedback.
- Organizing the workload for the team and ensuring the right resources are available and trained to the highest standard.
- Inducting and training new team members to ensure the highest levels of training are delivered and measured.
- Driving continuous improvement to streamline processes.
- Coordinating the daily workflow of the accounting team, including the completion of detailed account analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts.
- Managing both local and Philippines-based GL accounting teams.
- Developing new and streamlining existing processes and systems to ensure efficient delivery of value-add information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Preparing and analyzing cost information for presentation to and review by divisional managers.
- Providing day-to-day cover for the team when members are absent and critical deadlines need to be met.
- Managing the preparation of monthly financial reports for defined entities/regions, ensuring they are completed in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Reviewing entities' balance sheet reconciliations at month-end.
- Reviewing entities' monthly accruals & prepayments to ensure all items are accurately captured.
- Reviewing entities' income statement variance analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Reviewing entities' compliance with US GAAP revenue recognition criteria.
- Reviewing significant revenue contracts for in-scope entities to ensure compliance with corporate revenue recognition guidelines.
- Supporting the transition of functions (Record to Report in particular) to other locations.
- Ensuring delivery of all ad-hoc reporting requirements as they arise and managing and reviewing reports for accuracy prior to publication.
- Interfacing with corporate tax and treasury on all matters that impact the business unit, including tax strategies.
- Collaborating with external audit staff for periodic year-end review procedures and local statutory audits as required.
- Providing input on local finance policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance for all accounting and finance operations.
- Participating in ongoing policy and control environment development to ensure compliance with applicable internal control regulations.
- Enhancing existing processes and developing new ones to ensure the most efficient completion of duties.
- Providing technical expertise, support, and guidance to the accounting group.
- Promoting teamwork within the group.
- Developing relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Liaising efficiently with corporate and other IT business subsidiaries throughout the world.
- Providing training and support where possible to the Finance teams in Galway and Philippines.
- Ensuring that the internal control environment is operating as intended and that any improvements are implemented in a timely fashion.
- Providing assistance to the worldwide finance organization where required.
- Performing other duties and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Requirements:
- Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Third-level degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years' experience, preferably with a Shared Service Centre/Multinational.
- SAP/Oracle or other major ERP systems experience is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work alone to understand and summarise financial data into high-quality, accurate, and usable summaries.
- Strong computer skills, especially MS Office & Qlikview.
