It has evolved from a single function agency managing the National Debt to a manager of a complex portfolio of public assets and liabilities. Businesses managed by the NTMA include borrowing for the Exchequer and the management of the National Debt, the State Claims Agency, the New Economy and Recovery Authority (NewERA), the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) and the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA). The NTMA also assigns staff to the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA), the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) and Home Building Finance Ireland (HBFI). Recently the NTMA mandate has expanded to include management of the Future Ireland Fund (FIF) and the Infrastructure, Nature and Climate Fund (ICNF). This role is to manage the finance operations service delivery to ISIF and/or FIF and ICNF. ISIF is a sovereign development fund with a mandate to invest on a commercial basis to support economic activity and employment in Ireland while the newly formed FIF and ICNF are sovereign wealth funds. NTMA finance is now recruiting a Financial Accountant on a two year contract for the financial reporting team who will report to the Finance Manager. This interesting and varied role will be responsible for the completion of a range of tasks within the NTMA's finance function including (but not limited to) producing reports for senior management, business partnering, stakeholder relationship management, monthly trial balance review and reconciliations, and will act as a key point of contact in the audit process. It represents an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to take up an exciting and challenging position supporting the finance function service delivery across a range of evolving and diverse businesses. Principal Accountabilities Financial and management reporting: The production of monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts together with all ancillary reports. Intercompany recharge preparation. Preparation of regulatory reporting to external bodies including the Central Statistics Office and Central Bank of Ireland. Preparation of a range of annual and interim financial statements under FRS102 and IFRS. Preparation of daily and monthly management information and KPI's. Preparation of the annual operating budgets and forecasts. Ad-hoc reporting including the preparation of responses to Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests. Taxation/Compliance Review of general ledger entries for VAT compliance. Audit Assist in the co-ordination and management of internal and external audits. Other Provide ongoing financial support services to a wide range of business area management teams to include business activity analysis, financial performance, budget performance and other ad hoc reporting as required. Liaising with business area management teams to gather key financial inputs as part of the month end close process, budget process and forecast process. Assisting with projects including finance system implementations and upgrades as required. Assisting with the documentation of processes/procedures and controls as required. Provision of support and guidance to trainee accountants. Participate in the continuous development and enhancement of workflows and processes within the financial reporting team, and identify and deliver operational efficiencies. Experience Fully qualified accounting professional with previous experience in the preparation of financial statements and management accounts. Experience in financial services or in the banking sector is advantageous. Skills Strong attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to form good working relationships/good interpersonal skill. Ability to adapt quickly to the role and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team. A self-starter willing to take the initiative to get results. Analytical with good problem solving skills. Knowledge Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in other Microsoft Packages. Knowledge of general ledger applications functionality (in particular Infor SunSystems) would be advantageous.
