Financial Accountant We are Cunningham. We are currently seeking an experienced and talentedFinancial Accountant to join our high performing team. REPORTING TO: Financial Controller LOCATION: Based in Newry, Co. Down CONTRACT TYPE: FULL-TIME, PERMANENT HOURS: Monday Friday 40 hours per week with early finish on Fridays Role Responsibilities Preparation of monthly and annual accounts, accruals & prepayments, journal entries & month end reconciliations. Preparation of departmental reporting and commentary on variances to budget. Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings to include RCT & PAYE. Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Support external audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations. Assist with the preparation of the year-end accounts and Statutory Financial Statements Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the finance function. Perform any other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time. The Candidate Qualifications & Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial accounting role. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Experience using ERPs and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. A relevant accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is required. Skills & Attributes: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
