Job Description

Financial Controller sought for 14-month fixed-term contract with potential for permanency in Dublin Office of European company with €10tr in assets under administration.

Responsibilities include implementing day-to-day financial control, producing monthly management accounts, and contributing to performance objectives.

Key qualifications and attributes include a minimum qualification in Accounting, at least 3 years' experience in a similar role, and proficiency in Excel and Power Point.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong numerical accuracy, and adaptability are also required.

About the Role

The Financial Controller will be responsible for implementing day-to-day financial control and assisting in the production of monthly management accounts, statistics, regulatory returns, and financial reporting.

  • Ensure that management results align with accounting results, reporting any anomalies or inconsistencies.
  • Assist in the preparation of company and consolidated financial statements.
  • Calculate, analyse, and post accrued income monthly, coordinating with the client invoicing teams, and preparing intra-group invoicing.
  • Collect and analyse client fee schedules and commercial contracts, and manage client invoices, including monitoring delayed payments and preparing reports on aged debtors.
  • Participate in the development of budgets and estimates, reviewing assumptions, projections, and key financial data.
  • Analyse revenues by client and activity type, as well as expenses, to understand deviations from forecasts.
  • Prepare tax statements for VAT and corporate taxes and track regulatory filings and enquiries.
  • Contribute to the optimisation of regulatory report production processes and respond to queries from other units within the company.

About You

  • A minimum qualification in Accounting (ACCA, ACA, CIMA).
  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within financial services.
  • A keen interest or experience in developing and training junior employees.
  • Proficiency in Excel, with strong skills in Power Point and Word.
  • Exposure to SAS and One Sum X is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and the ability to self-check outputs.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new accounting software applications in an evolving financial environment.
  • A self-starter attitude with enthusiasm for analysing numbers and financial data in detail.
  • A team player with a genuine interest in contributing to the growth and development of the department.
