About the Financial Controller role

A European company with a rich heritage and excellent reputation is seeking a highly motivated Financial Controller to join their Finance team for a 14-month fixed-term contract with the potential for permanency.

The company, with a combined total of over €10 trillion in assets under administration, custody, and depositary, is looking for a skilled professional to implement day-to-day financial control and assist in the production of monthly management accounts, statistics, regulatory returns, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum qualification in Accounting (ACCA, ACA, CIMA), at least 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within financial services, and strong numerical accuracy and the ability to self-check outputs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure management results align with accounting results, reporting any anomalies or inconsistencies.
  • Assist in the preparation of company and consolidated financial statements.
  • Calculate, analyse, and post accrued income monthly, coordinating with client invoicing teams, and preparing intra-group invoicing.
  • Collect and analyse client fee schedules and commercial contracts, and manage client invoices, including monitoring delayed payments and preparing reports on aged debtors.
  • Participate in the development of budgets and estimates, reviewing assumptions, projections, and key financial data.
  • Analyse revenues by client and activity type, as well as expenses, to understand deviations from forecasts.
  • Prepare tax statements for VAT and corporate taxes and track regulatory filings and enquiries.
  • Contribute to the optimisation of regulatory report production processes and respond to queries from other units within the company.

The Financial Controller will work across various entities in Ireland and Jersey, and contribute to the delivery of performance objectives set by the Team Manager. They will be responsible for analysing numbers and financial data in detail, and contributing to the growth and development of the department.
