AVEO Foods Financial Controller Job Specification Job Title: Financial Controller Location: Dublin 24 Reports to: CEO Hours: 39 hours per week, 9am-5pm generally Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Starting at €60,000 per annum, with the final salary based on experience Aveo Foods is a premium quality ready-meals company founded 16 years ago and servicing the retail, food service and airline sectors. We are looking for a detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial management and reporting for Aveo Foods. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making. As the sole financial professional, the successful candidate will handle all aspects of accounting and finance, working closely with senior management to drive financial performance and growth. Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to the CEO and relevant stakeholders. Provide detailed financial analysis to support decision-making and identify trends and opportunities. Monthly Management Accounts & Analysis Creditor Reconciliations and Payment Runs Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and long-term financial planning. Monitor and report on actual vs. budget performance, providing insights into variances and recommending corrective actions. Capital Expenditure Budgets / Monitoring. Assist with strategic planning and the evaluation of new business opportunities. Cost Accounting and Inventory Management: Manage and monitor production costs, overheads, and margins to ensure cost control and profitability. Oversee the valuation of inventory, ensuring accurate reporting and alignment with financial goals. Tax and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local tax regulations, including VAT, corporate tax, and payroll taxes. Prepare and submit statutory returns and liaise with external auditors and tax authorities. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to financial policies. Cash Flow: Manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring the availability of funds for operational needs. Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage working capital to support business growth. Payroll: Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax laws and employment regulations. Systems and Process Improvement: Review and improve accounting systems, processes, and financial reporting tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices and lead finance-related projects, including system upgrades and process automation. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key financial advisor to the CEO, providing timely and relevant financial information. Build strong relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, banks, tax authorities, and suppliers. Qualifications and Experience: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with 3-5 years post-qualification experience in a similar role. Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and cost accounting, ideally within the food production or manufacturing sector. Strong knowledge of Irish tax regulations and statutory compliance. Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP, or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
