This role will have varied responsibilities dependent upon the department in which the individual is working. In some instances (depending on the area of support) this role will be required to oversee & review the work and processes of less experienced Accountants. Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the outline below. Team Background The CTS Financial Reporting/ Accountant will be part of the Central Technology Services (CTS) Finance team, within European Technology, supporting the Finance and Commercial Director, Chief Information Officer, Head of Change and Head of Operations Delivery and Optimisation. The CTS Finance team provides monthly financial and management reporting, cost analysis, financial business partnering, audit support, budgeting, forecasting to the CTS Leadership team, European Technology and Group. The team provides financial objectivity, challenge and insight into the CTS finances and the oversight of resources to deliver the technology change programmes. It will provide Senior Leaders with support making effective decisions that drive business performance and the achievement of the division's financial and strategic objectives. What you will help us to achieve Contribute to the production of periodic financial and management reports and/or regulatoryreturns within agreed deadlines Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations, professional standards and organizational policies Implement and update accounting policies and controls and fiscal controls for the preparation of financial reports Provide financial planning support, including forecasting, budgeting and analysing variations from budget Review, design, develop and/or implement accounting systems (both manual and computerized), systems documentation and procedures/instructions Implement continuous improvement by providing assistance in researching accounting and regulatory standards and establishing new and revised processes in line with best practice Partner with the business to provide financial operating results/management reports, monitor the quality of information received from the business and escalate any issues identified to senior management More specific responsibilities will include Prepare European Technology monthly financial results and manage / deliver month end close with particular focus on CTS Prepare / review month end accruals, prepayments, intercompany reconciliations, monthly/quarterly/annual P&L and Balance Sheet Prepare month end flash reporting and analyse performance / variances to provide insights to management Produce monthly management accounting reports for CTS, Operations Delivery & Optimization and Change Resource Board Partner with the CTS Leadership team to understand and report on project financial performance and prepare monthly financial outlooks Provide financial support, including forecasting, budgeting, and analysing variations from budget. There will be a particular focus on engagement with, and support of, the CTS and Change Management functions Maintain month end processes and contribute to the production of periodic financial and management reports and/or group returns within agreed deadlines Produce recurring and ad-hoc financial analysis to support management decision making Identify areas for process improvement Support preparation of Business cases Review, design, develop and/or implement accounting systems and reports, systems documentation, and procedures/instructions Monitor and review the work of less experienced / trainee accountants What you will need to be successful in the role Newly qualified accountant (or passed finalist) with 3 to 4 years' experience (~ 1-year PQE) Previous experience of working in an IT or shared services environment an advantage Experience of financial reporting and month end close Experience in building budgets / forecasts and financial modelling and analysis an advantage Commercial awareness and problem-solving skills Oracle EPM and SAP systems knowledge particularly desirable. Excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will have a high level of self-motivation. Enthusiastic and able to represent the company in a professional manner.
