Financial Reporting Technical Support - Senior Manager Department: AuditEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: DublinDescription BDO Ireland's Audit & Accounting Quality Management and Technical Support Group (referred to as “AAQM” and “TSG”) is experiencing growth, and we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager in Financial Reporting Technical Support. This is a non-client facing role supporting our audit and accounting teams with accounting and financial reporting technical support. Reporting to the Head of Audit & Assurance Quality Management, you will work closely with the Audit & Accounting department's Leaders and Management teams to help support our audit and accounting quality management agenda. You will be a senior member of our TSG working side by side with our Audit Quality experts in the delivery of our overall firm’s system of quality management (SoQM). The TSG delivers technical support and monitoring of our audit and accounting quality in the form of methodology; policies & procedures; consultations; reviews; guidance on ethical matters; templates; guidance notes; and training. As a senior member of this expert team, you’ll have a chance to use and develop your technical skills and experience, find solutions to technical queries and contribute daily to the firm’s commitment to deliver high quality outputs. You’ll be exposed to a high level of on-the-job learning and will be given responsibility for leading and managing projects, while building your network of experienced specialists.Key Responsibilities & Relationships You will be a senior member of our TSG, working side by side with our Audit Quality experts, supporting our Audit & Accounting teams. Your responsibilities will include: Technical review of a personal portfolio of annual reports of publicly traded and other higher risk clients, working with the audit teams to confirm compliance with financial reporting standards, company legislation and regulatory requirements Providing clear and practical solutions to technical financial reporting queries, and act as a sounding board for ad hoc accounting issues/queries that arise Preparing and presenting financial reporting training, updates and seminars both internally and externally Helping to develop financial reporting tools and guidance for application by the firm’s partners and staff Writing articles and other publications on financial reporting matters for internal and external communications Assisting with the preparation of responses to external consultations in relation to legal, regulatory and financial reporting matters Monitoring external developments in financial reporting areas, reporting back to the team and developing an appropriate action plan where required Implement a robust quality framework for our engagements and tasks within financial reporting technical Collaborate with experts and stakeholders to ensure consistent quality standards and risk mitigation. Assist with internal inspections, Quality Assurance Reviews, external audit inspections, and provide updates to Audit Partners, Management, Firm Leadership, and the Quality & Risk Committee. In this busy and rewarding role you’ll also: Work with Managers, Directors and Partners within Audit & Accounting and TSG and across the wider firm Maintain and encourage an open and constructive environment in which to provide technical support and advice Bring pre-existing technical knowledge and experience to the TSG and contribute to all output areas Provide support and supervision to the more junior team members of TSG Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Experience in Accounting Technical or Assurance Experience with a passion to develop in this area is essential CAI or ACCA Qualified Accountant or equivalent 5+ years post qualification relevant audit/accounting experience with a strong interest in technical accounting and auditing advice Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS, FRS102 etc); International Standards on Auditing (Ireland &UK); IAASA’s Ethical Standard for Auditors (Ireland) 2020; and relevant applicable Company Law requirements pertaining to financial reporting Experience of audit quality reviews and reviews of financial accounts by regulators Have practical experience of performing technical reviews of annual reports of listed companies Good communication skills will be key, as you will be required to deal with stakeholders at all levels within the business. Strong project management skills, particularly in relation to managing expectations of a wide range of stakeholders. Positive attitude and a high level of personal drive to guide change initiatives and see them through to completion. Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
