If you are a creative individual with experience or an interest in theatre or interpretation and have a passion for horror-themed performing arts, this job is for you.The St. Lawrence Parks Commission is seeking enthusiastic and talented individuals to join the Fort Fright team of Scare Actors. As a Scare Actor, you will play an integral role in creating an unforgettable experience for event guests. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality scares, engaging with guests, and maintaining the overall ambiance of the haunted attraction.WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?You Will:Wear a costume and make up and portray a specific character as part of the event to employ various scare tactics to effectively frighten visitors;Entertain and terrify visitors to Fort Henry’s Fort Fright event;Nightly set up and clean up of the event;Ensuring a safe and enjoyable visitor experience by monitoring the site and reporting any potential risks or hazards;Provide excellent customer service;Work outside in various weather conditions;Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.HOW DO I QUALIFY?MANDATORY:Conditional upon successful candidate being granted required security clearance for this position (Vulnerable Service Sector check).Knowledge And Experience:Experience in theatre or interpretation;A passion for acting and costuming;Knowledge and experience of playing a character role;Knowledge of “dark” events and scare techniques;Knowledge of tourism and its economic impact;Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario and the ability to work in compliance with all health and safety regulations.CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TEAMWORK SKILLS:Possess a personal commitment to customer service;Excellent interpersonal skills to exercise good judgement and tact when interacting with visitors;Ability to exercise initiative and work with minimal supervision independently and in a team environment.Other Skills:Unique skills or talents such as illusions, magic, make-up, artistry, etc.Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.WHY WORK FOR THE ST.
