Job Description

Position Description Customer Solutions Trading team delivers optimisation, risk management and wholesale market access to Electric Irelands portfolio. Trading plays a critical role in delivering value to its customers through management of its supply positions. The trading team is a key part of customer solutions business. The team is responsible for optimising revenue streams from our supply portfolio which involves dynamically trading the output of the portfolio typically from one month out to 18 months. Central to this is trading ISEM power and associated fuels through various routes to market. As a Trading Front Office Analyst, you will play a crucial role in managing and executing trades, analysing market trends, and ensuring seamless communication between our trading desk and other departments. Key Responsibilities Sourcing Energy Contracts: handle the procurement of energy contracts and related financial instruments to manage wholesale energy costs. Trading in the Prompt Electricity Market (ISEM): trade electricity to meet customer demand in the ISEM. Purchasing Gas: purchasing gas and ensure gas supplies are sufficient to meet customer needs. Analysis and Reporting: provide analysis to support trading and strategic decisions, and report on all trading-related activities. Provide insights into the energy markets to support the trading strategy. Assess and manage risks associated with trading activities across all portfolios Experience and Qualifications Essential Relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent. 3+ years relevant experience Knowledge of Energy Markets Good analytical and numerical skills A pro-active, enthusiastic, and commercially focussed individual Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel/Word/Powerpoint Attention to detail with ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy Proven ability to collaborate and engage with stakeholders The ability to work as part of a team and provide support and guidance to other team members Desirable Knowledge of wholesale or retail electricity markets or trading environment would be an advantage Risk Management Experience Experience in programming languages would be advantageous Proven analytics capability Location This position will be based in Swift Square, Santry ESB is committed to smart working - combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
