Full Professorships in Computer Science and Data ScienceThe Computer Science Department at the IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the rank of full professor.The proposed starting date is December 2024 or soon thereafter.The IT University’s vision is to create and share knowledge that is profound and leads to groundbreaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity. The Computer Science Department seeks to conduct research and education that are both foundational and have impact on industry and society.The full professor is expected to contribute to research and education, to develop strategy, and mentor junior faculty and postdocs in the applied-for area. Moreover, the professor is expected to attract external research funding and to build external collaboration in joint research projects also with partners outside of academia.Minimum Requirements:In addition, candidates for the position should be able to:Read/speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish)The CandidateWe look to hire candidates holding a PhD or similar in computer science, computer engineering, data science, statistics, computational mathematics, computational physics, or a closely related field.Research fields of particular interest include:Image analysis and machine learning, e.g., as applied to medical imagesNetwork science, e.g., with societal applicationsTheoretical computer science, e.g., formal models of systemsThe Ideal Candidate:Develops and conducts excellent teaching at university levelConducts research in computer science or data science, especially within one of the above-mentioned fieldsDisseminates the research through academic papers, applications in other fields, industrial collaboration, software packages, public outreach, or other channelsTakes a combined theoretical and practical approach.Qualification Requirements:The responsibilities of the full professor will include:Develop education and teaching at the universityInfluence the way IT is used in DenmarkLead cooperation with external partnersCreate a pipeline of external research fundingDevelop relations to external partners, to business, government, and society at largeThe application should document the applicant's background and track record with respect to the responsibilities listed above.The application should also state any additional qualities that the candidate may possess, such as excellent communication skills, leadership skills in diverse environments, and the like.General Information:The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time faculty members. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact, and the commercialization of IT.About the Computer Science Department:The ITU Computer Science Department conducts research in all aspects of computer science and data science, including algorithms, databases, government IT, machine learning, natural language processing, network science, optimization, programming languages, robotics, security, semantics, software engineering, software verification, type theory, and more, as well as a range of applications. The department has 55 permanent faculty, 65 PhDs and postdocs, as well as other staff. The teaching record should at least for each course include your official responsibility, the size of the course, the academic level, and the number of students. Include max. 5 course descriptions to document the experience.A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which the candidate has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.Recognizing the diversity of traditions, methods, and delivery format in the range of fields included in this call, the publications or other documented research contributions should be submitted in the format relevant for the applicant’s field.
