We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Retail Assistant to join our Enable Ireland Garden Centre and Gift Store team in CHO6, Dublin South, currently based in Sandymount. Contract Type: Permanent post. Contract Hours: 24 hours per week. Salary Scale: The current salary scale for this post is from €12.70 per hour (four-point scale), commensurate with experience. Annual Leave Entitlement: Annual leave entitlement is 20 days pro rata per annum and proportionately less for less than 12 months service. Overview of the Post: Sandymount Garden Centre and Gift Store is situated in the bustling seaside location of Sandymount village. Nestled alongside sea views and walks, cafes, bookstores and lovely bakeries, our distinctive Garden Centre stocks a wide selection of beautiful indoor plants, bedding, fruit trees, veg and ornamentals according to season. We are a one stop shop for all your gardening needs from seeds, compost, tools and pots to giftware, cards, candles and homeware. It is very unique in the community in that it is only one of two Garden Centers in Ireland where all profits from the sale of goods in the centre goes towards services and support for adults and children with disabilities. So not only do our customers receive great customer service and beautiful products to take home or gift loved ones, by choosing our Garden Centre to buy their goods, they are also contributing to the care and wellbeing of the local community! We are a small team of horticulturists, plant loving retail staff and volunteers, with a strong focus on teamwork, good customer service and a positive can-do attitude. The post holder will work as part of the team in the retail function of the store. The successful candidate will have Essential Criteria: Recent, relevant experience (minimum of 1 year) in a retail environment or customer-facing role. Experience of working in the retail sector. Experience of handling retail transactions involving cash, cheques, vouchers, credit cards, etc. Experience of stock management procedures.
