Our second location, Orwell Queen of Peace specializes in Long Term Care. This continuum is made up of residential long and short-term care, Acquired Brain Injury Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care, along with a wide variety of conditions. A friendly and supportive home care service is also provided for our more independent and self-reliant clients. Objectives of the Job: To maintain a level of professional integrity in accordance with Orwell Healthcare policies and procedures, employment contract, philosophy of care and mission statement. To perform duties in the designated area of work as determined by the Management. Operational Responsibilities: To maintain confidentiality of Orwell Healthcare information and residents always. To be aware of the security of Orwell Healthcare always, both in terms of access to the Orwell Healthcare property and the residents property. Duties of the Gardener include but not limited to: Seasonal Maintenance of Planting & pruning of the gardens, flowers beds and shrubberies. Perform basic garden maintenance such as, managing weed control, emptying bins, and leaf blowing & keeping the car park areas moss free and clean. Work with hand tools and basic light machinery such as plant vehicles. Seed plants & cuttings to develop more planting and water as appropriate. Ensure maintenance of irrigation system. Ensure a safe environment for staff and residents/clients to safety and health regulations. Grow and maintain a herb and vegetable garden. Engage with residents who have an interest in gardening. Perform pruning and trimming as appropriate. Preserve and maintain gardening tools in good repair. Provide weekly Men Shed sessions with the residents Ensure garden furniture is kept clean and in good condition Ensure the Smoking shed is kept clean and safe as per cleaning schedule. Keep water courses including guttering and roof outlets clear and unobstructed as per schedule with the assistance of the maintenance team. Assist in keeping records and reports in relation all aspects of work as directed by the line manager. Assist the maintenance team as directed by the line manager and in circumstances of adverse weather conditions.
