We’re pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a General Manager to join the parkrun Ireland team, based in Dublin.From quiet beginnings, parkrun has grown into a worldwide social movement with community at its beating heart. Committed to breaking down barriers to participation in regular physical activity and bringing communities together, we deliver free, weekly, timed events that people of all ages and backgrounds can take part in – as walkers, runners, volunteers, and spectators.Our mission is to create a healthier and happier planet. Now in our 20th year, parkrun events are delivered in over 2,500 locations across 21 countries. parkrun Ireland was started 12 years ago and now there are more than 150 parkrun events around the country taking place every weekend, with more locations being added all of the time. We are looking to invest and grow further in Ireland as part of our five-year strategy and are recruiting new staff members to support our journey.This is an amazing opportunity to shape the future of the next phase of parkrun Ireland.Brief role description:The goal of this role is to lead the development and growth of parkrun Ireland, with a particular focus on diversifying participation and nurturing existing relationships with key stakeholders, as well as parkrun ambassadors, event teams, and communities. Sitting with the EMEA team, the General Manager will be required to prioritise the needs of parkrun Ireland whilst balancing those alongside the responsibilities associated with being part of a global charity.Main responsibilities:Create, build, and support relationships with key strategic stakeholders across diverse sectors (for example, sponsors, volunteers, funders, politicians, and government departments) as the senior point of contact in Ireland.Develop action plans that sit within the EMEA strategy, build on existing success, support existing partners and initiatives, and diversify engagement across the country.Understand and balance the relationship between parkrun Ireland, the EMEA Division, and parkrun Global, such that parkrun Ireland both maximises its impact and engagement across Ireland and sits comfortably as part of the wider organisation.Develop strong and respectful relationships with the parkrun Ireland ambassadors, event teams, and wider communities.In line with parkrun’s Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy, prioritise diversifying participation across Ireland, through leading and supporting the development of programmes targeted toward those with most to gain.In collaboration with the Global Finance Team, develop and manage parkrun Ireland budget and finances, and allocate funds accordingly.Essential experience requirements:Implementation and management of projects in areas of public health and/or physical activity promotion, particularly where community engagement has been a key objective.Developing and managing budgets across a broad range of business areas.Managing teams of people both remotely and in-person.Developing and sustaining relationships with key strategic business partners.Working as part of a team where competing needs and priorities have needed to be balanced against each other.Desirable experience requirements:Managing volunteers and/or volunteering itself.Participation in or other engagement with parkrun events.Existing relationships with key stakeholders relating to physical activity and health across Ireland, such as Sport Ireland, the Department of Health, and the Health Service Executive.How to apply: Please refer to the instructions here: Application Instructions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
