FRS Recruitment are currently recruiting for a General Manager for an established agribusiness in the Southeast. This is a full-time permanent role. Reporting to the Managing Director the General Manager will lead and deliver the company's strategic ambitions whilst ensuring efficiently and effectiveness in day-to-day operations. Our client has invested heavily in its research , production and logistics functions which has enabled them to bring to market the latest genetics to drive profitability in the farming sector. The General Manager will take a leading customer facing role, driving sales and developing customer and supplier relationships. You will effectively manage the various aspects of the business, including R&D, Marketing, Logistics, Production & Finance to ensure business goals are delivered. Duties & responsibilities Full responsibility for the commercial success of the company - including meeting sales and profit targets. Design and execute the commercial strategy, ensuring that sufficient resources are in place to meet targets. Operations - ensure oversight over key operations to ensure efficiencies are being identified and implemented throughout the supply chain running from field production through to customers. Production strategy - take responsibility for key decisions in the production strategy including what volumes of each variety of product is to be produced. Suppliers - maintain and enhance relationships with key seed breeders and suppliers, ensuring continuity in our new genetic supply pipeline. Represent and effectively manage stakeholder relationships including the Department of Agriculture, ISTA, ASA, IFA etc. and ensure the business has an effective voice for positive change in the farming sector. Ensure that the Board of Directors are kept fully and properly informed of business plans, developments and challenges. Finance - Accurately budget and forecast performance and deliver on the annual budgets and longer-term plans. Marketing - Take responsibility for overall marketing strategy and manage the implementation of same. Candidate profile Have a third level qualification in a relevant discipline (Business, Agriculture, Marketing or similar). Possess 5+ years' experience in a managerial role in a complex environment - ideally with experience of major contract / deal negotiation. Be familiar with the agricultural sector in Ireland and internationally. Previous knowledge of the tillage sector an advantage. Be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and an ability to empower, motivate and develop people. Have an organised and driven attitude to their work, complemented with professional level communication, English language and IT skills. Be commercially astute with vision for opportunity and change.
