GIS Specialist

Athenry, Co. Galway based GIS Specialist role working with project managers and engineering teams to develop and maintain GIS solutions for transport asset management projects.

This is a full-time hybrid role requiring onsite presence in Athenry for an average of three days a week. The successful candidate will have a strong background in GIS, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, and experience working with spatial data management, geoprocessing, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, collate and prepare spatial datasets
  • Apply best data management principles for spatial data in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Prepare maps and apps for in-house and field teams
  • Create and maintain geodatabases to store spatial data
  • Perform geoprocessing tasks and analysis of spatial information
  • Prepare mobile applications to be used in conjunction with company and client GIS systems
  • Aid in the development of new systems to improve efficiencies within the company
  • Support operations team in the use of GIS-based data collection applications

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • 3+ years experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Basic knowledge of QGIS
  • Proficient with MS Office and Outlook
  • Data Management within the ArcGIS Environment (Pro/Online)
  • Knowledge of multiple spatial file types (Shapefile and Feature Classes, GeoPackage, GeoJSON, KML for examples)
  • ETL – taking files from disparate sources and adding to geodatabases
  • WGS84 (4326), ITM (2157) and IG (29902)

Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience with Survey123
  • Experience with ArcGIS Dashboards
  • Experience with Experience Builder (or other Web Mapping Applications)
  • Basic knowledge and application of Python programming within the ArcGIS environment (ArcPy / ArcGIS API for Python)
  • Experience in any of the following sectors; transport, utilities, asset management, engineering

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years GIS experience
  • At least 3 years of experience working with ESRI technology (ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online at a minimum)
  • A 3rd level qualification e.g., degree/HND or equivalent in a subject which included a significant element of GIS, engineering, data science, OR information technology
