The Role


Uniphar has been highly acquisitive over the last 12 years and has seen tremendous growth within all divisions. This is a newly created key strategic role which will lead the operations business and build out a connected and integrated global operational infrastructure. The ambition now is to double the size of the group over the next 3 years. This role will be instrumental in driving this One Uniphar approach across the operations function. As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will have the opportunity to support group-wide strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes


  1. Partner with COO and Global Operations Director to develop and deliver a strategy for the global operations function for the Uniphar Group including:
    1. Global Distribution and warehousing network
    2. Warehouse Management Systems
    3. Global Expansion playbook
    4. Acquisition Integration
  2. Develop strong relationships with Managing Directors and Operational Leads within each division to ensure global alignment.
  3. Identify commercial and operational opportunities from cross-divisional collaboration that will enable business growth, cost savings and increased revenue.
  4. Develop detailed plans to support the Implementation and manage the processes around the individual project plans which are part of the overall strategy.
  5. Manage all 3rd party vendors, advisors and agents who will support the strategy.
  6. Work cross-functionally with other pillar departments including Quality, Finance and IT and provide integrated plans and updates to the SLT.
  7. Help to create a culture of operational excellence along with continuous improvement to help identify innovative commercial opportunities and effective solutions to rapidly take advantage of the opportunity.
  8. Work with Business Unit teams as part of the acquisition Group strategy and manage the day-to-day integration plans of the key functions post completion.
  9. Build a database of facilities and properties across the group.
  10. Support on any major capital expenditure projects within any of the divisions as required.
  11. Be solutions orientated and be seen by colleagues as a go-to person for solving problems and providing robust solutions to business requirements.

Key Skills & Experience

We expect you to be a senior leader in your field with 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or similar regulated industry in a Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Technical, or Regulatory position or a combination thereof and/or working with a regulatory health authority.

Experience working in a highly regulated environment and an understanding of GDP, GMP and European quality standards would be important. The successful candidate should have the knowledge, experience, and leadership style to grow the team through coaching, strategy building and execution to ensure right first-time operation.

An ability and willingness to work cross-functionally, focusing on meeting, and tracking schedules and embracing an interdependent/flexible work culture. A progressive, non-bureaucratic approach to the role with the ability to build trust and credibility quickly across the organisation. A willingness to travel across the Global site network to understand the business and build relationships.

How we'd like to work together


As this role is global, there is flexibility to be based in any one of Uniphar's offices or work to our Hybrid model. There will be the need for regular face-to-face interactions in Uniphar HQ in Citywest, Dublin and other locations, as needed. Given our business is spread across multiple time zones, there will be some flexibility required in order to interact with colleagues (i.e., it's not a '9 to 5' role).
