Global Sourcing & Supply Manager Job Description

Develop and implement sourcing strategies to secure best-in-class terms for sourcing, collaborating across the organization to ensure business objectives are met.

As a key player in the Global Sourcing & Supply Management team, you will work closely with procurement, engineering, finance, and legal teams to develop and implement sourcing strategies that meet Apple's performance criteria and secure long-term supply continuity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a nuanced understanding of the commodity landscape to better forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competition influence.
  • Identifying changes in buyer and supplier power and using industry dynamics to Apple's advantage.
  • Performing supplier financial research, spend analysis, and ad-hoc financial analysis for strategic procurement deals.
  • Managing positive, effective relationships with suppliers to secure best-in-class terms for sourcing.
  • Understanding the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality to strike agreements that meet Apple's performance criteria and secure long-term supply continuity.
  • Collaborating across the Apple organization to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Optimizing supply chain performance through cost and capacity scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of manufacturing costs and market intelligence to influence Apple's future product roadmap and sourcing decisions.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BA/BS degree.
  • A minimum 8 years of experience in freight forwarding operational background, with a detailed knowledge of air and ocean international logistics.
  • Outstanding analytical and operational/mediation skills.
  • Strong Excel and Keynote/Power Point skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
  • End-to-end ownership of contract processes.
  • Tenacity, passion, and proven skill in negotiation.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and lead without authority.
  • Ability to identify and solve multi-layered supply chain issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving autonomous decisions.
  • Leading executive communications.
