Senior Global Strategy Engineer for Data Center Infrastructure

A results-driven senior engineer to drive development, implementation, and delivery of enterprise data centers strategies through AWS infrastructure builds, meeting strict quality and performance levels globally.

About the Role

The Global Engineering Strategy team is seeking a senior data center engineer to lead engineering due diligence efforts for new and expanding regions, maintaining high performance standards and utilizing innovation to reduce budgets and increase efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders during due diligence to oversee the process and ensure design requirements are considered.
  • Lead the predesign phase and ensure design-ready deliverables are handed over to the design team.
  • Work with international utilities to understand HV/MV substation design and impacts to assess risk and impacts on builds.
  • Provide engineering design decisions to the planning team for strategic planning and region selection.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to assess how various products can be deployed in a region.
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience with industrial/commercial design or experience directly related to data center infrastructure and data center planning.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Navisworks, SketchUp, and MS Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards, including local and international standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering with 10+ years of experience.
  • Familiarity with substation design, HV/MV distribution systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and high quality standards.
