Job Description

Unijobs, on behalf of our public sector client, are currently recruiting for a Grade V Staff Officer position in the Mayo region. The successful candidate is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree. This role will consist of 35 working hours per week, and the hourly rate of pay is €27.21. The duration of this assignment is initially 3 months, with the possibility of being extended thereafter. The position of staff officer encompasses both managerial responsibility and administrative responsibilities, including the following: Administration Ensure the efficient day-to-day administration of area of responsibility Ensure deadlines are met and that service levels are maintained Ensure an appropriate distribution of workload within the team, taking into account absence due to annual leave, etc Promote co-operation and working in harmony with other teams and disciplines Maintain a good understanding of internal and external factors that can affect service delivery, including an awareness of national and local issues that can impact the area of responsibility Ensure policies and procedures are well documented, understood and adhered to by staff in designated area(s) Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in own work and work of team Minute taking at meetings Human Resources / Supervision of Staff Manage and supervise designated staff / teams. Create and maintain a positive working environment among staff members, which contributes to maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships Promote co-operation and working in harmony with other teams and disciplines Be responsible for communication within the various areas of responsibility and provision of appropriate information to all staff. Customer Service Create and maintain a positive working environment among staff members, which contributes to maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships. Seek feedback from service users/customers and implement change to incorporate same, in agreement with line manager Communication with internal & external stakeholders as relevant to the role Service Delivery and Improvement Effectively discharge the day to day operations, including compliance with policies and procedures Identify opportunities for improvement of existing work practices and changes and implement accordingly Work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver continuous improvement within the area(s) of responsibility Standards, Policies, Procedures & Legislation Establish and maintain quality standards and procedures within the various sections. Ensure policies and procedures are well documented and understood and adhered to by staff. Assist in the development and preparation of new policies, procedures and practices related to areas of responsibility to support the delivery of patient centred services across all disciplines. Ensure compliance with all relevant Standards and Recommended Practices including Healthcare Records Management. Maintain own knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and practices to perform the role effectively and to ensure current work standards are met by own team Ensure accurate attention to detail and consistent adherence to procedures and current standards within area of responsibility Contribute to the development of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines for area(s) of responsibility KPI's The identification and development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) which are congruent with the Hospital's service plan targets. The development of Action Plans to address KPI targets. Driving and promoting a Performance Management culture. In conjunction with line manager assist in the development of a Performance Management system for your profession. The management and delivery of KPIs as a routine and core business objective. Risk Management, Infection Control, Hygiene Services and Health & Safety The management of Risk, Infection Control, Hygiene Services and Health & Safety is the responsibility of everyone and will be achieved within a progressive, honest and open environment. The post holder must be familiar with the necessary education, training and support to enable them to meet this responsibility. The post holder has a duty to familiarise themselves with the relevant Organisational Policies, Procedures & Standards and attend training as appropriate in the following areas: The post holder is responsible for ensuring that they become familiar with the requirements stated within the Risk Management Strategy and that they comply with the Group's Risk Management Incident/Near miss reporting Policies and Procedures.
