Job Description

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering electrical engineering solutions on a specific construction project.

The role involves a wide range of activities, from technical design and installation to commissioning and handover. You will work closely with the project team to ensure that all aspects of the project are executed to the highest standard.

The Graduate Electrical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing electrical designs to identify gaps and deviations
  • Validating cable sizing and making recommendations
  • Completing technical assessments and resolving issues promptly
  • Compiling and issuing electrical technical submittals
  • Managing submittals through the approvals process and tracking procurement and delivery of electrical equipment
  • Attending regular supply chain meetings to ensure progress is monitored and maintained within the overall construction programme
  • Updating and recording progress on system trackers aligned with the construction schedule
  • Reviewing electrical installations with the BIM team to ensure design constructibility and adequate space for installation and maintenance
  • Liaising with the design team and supply chain to ensure correct operation of the plant on site and successful handover
  • Completing electrical system walk-downs to ensure systems comply with specifications and drawings
  • Compiling test packs, FTOPs and O&Ms for approval
  • Managing specialist vendors during commissioning to ensure timely completion of their works
  • Undertaking client training in line with agreed training plans

Necessary qualifications and experience for the Graduate Electrical Engineer role include:

  • 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Experience with both LV and MV systems primarily in building services and data centre environments
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to walk down electrical systems to ensure compliance with specification
  • Developing technical submittals, completing technical reviews and assessments
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent record keeping and administration skills
  • Ability to innovate and lead in electrical/technical activities and challenges
  • Ability to plan and effectively manage projects
  • Ability to solve problems analytically and act decisively
  • Ability to focus on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes
