The team is responsible for hydrogeological input to a portfolio of exciting, varied and multi-disciplinary projects and for groundwater-specific projects covering groundwater resources, groundwater engineering and environmental impact assessment both in Ireland and internationally.As a Graduate Hydrogeologist at Arup, you will:Conduct groundwater resources and supply investigations including borehole performance assessment, borehole feasibility studies and design and supervision of borehole supplies.Prepare and coordinate groundwater components of Environmental Statements/Environmental Impact Assessments, including groundwater resources and flooding EIA documents and technical assessments.Conduct hydrogeological ground investigations, including conducting and analysing hydrogeological pumping tests and environmental monitoring.Engage in groundwater modelling including groundwater flow and contaminant modelling for engineering, resources and risk assessment purposes.Perform hydrogeological impact assessments and mitigation for new developments and engineering proposals.Work closely with designers of other disciplines to produce coordinated designs considering hydrogeological aspects.Attend project meetings and communicate with all grades of staff, external design team members and clients.Does this role inspire you?We're looking for graduates who are currently pursuing a degree in Geology or Earth Science with MSc in Hydrogeology or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have a higher degree in Hydrogeology, although consideration may be given to holders of a degree or higher degree in other subjects providing you have relevant experience in hydrogeology.We also value:Excellent report writing skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ArcMap (or similar GIS package).Either be or working towards accreditation (PGeo) with the Institute of Geologists of Ireland, or membership with a similar professional body.Enthusiasm and experience in the field of hydrogeology gained on projects.Awareness and willingness to develop understanding of infrastructure and development projects beyond your own discipline.Experience in liaison with, and supervision of, site investigation contractors or laboratories.Ability to work under pressure, balance priorities, and meet strict deadlines is essential.Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.Strong ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations, and in writing.Willingness to develop commercial awareness and acumen, in addition to technical design skills.Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges.Full clean driving licence.Why Arup?At Arup, we believe in investing in our people and supporting their growth from day one.
