Grid Engineer - Dublin based - Solar Projects

My client is a leading Renewable IPP and Asset Management company dedicated to transforming the energy landscape in Ireland and the US. They specialize in delivering top-tier solar energy solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. With over 1GW of Solar projects installed in Ireland and an expanding international pipeline in the US and EU countries over the next few years.

They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Grid Engineer to join. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless integration of the solar energy projects with the electrical grid, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of their systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and optimize electrical grid connections for solar power systems.
  2. Conduct grid impact studies and load flow analysis to ensure compliance with national grid codes and standards.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and regulatory bodies to secure grid connection agreements and permits.
  4. Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of grid-tied solar PV systems.
  5. Develop and implement protection schemes, control strategies, and communication systems for grid-connected solar projects.
  6. Perform technical assessments and provide recommendations for system improvements.
  7. Ensure all projects meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
  8. Stay updated with the latest advancements in grid integration technologies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on grid integration of renewable energy systems.
  3. In-depth knowledge of electrical grid operations, grid codes, and standards in Ireland.
  4. Proficiency in using grid simulation and analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory).
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
