Job Description

Title : Group Enterprise Architect Division : Group Technology Location : Dublin / Kilkenny (hybrid) Role purpose: Vhi Group Services DAC have a full time permanent vacancy for the role of Group Enterprise Architect based in either Dublin or Kilkenny on a hybrid basis. This role will provide vision, leadership, technical analysis and technical design expertise for the development, maintenance and governance of IT architecture models and their lower-level components to support the needs of the Vhi Group, covering both Insurance and Health and Wellbeing. The successful candidate will position Vhi Group Enterprise Architecture as a competitive lever that helps deliver improved customer and patient experience, increased efficiency, and a lower cost to serve. The Group Enterprise Architect will develop the technical roadmap to evolve Vhi Groups overarching IT environment from current to future states, in support of strategic business goals and policies while also ensuring the overall IT architecture is maintained in a coherent manner, with appropriate considerations made for security, quality, and agility. Key accountabilities The Group Enterprise Architect plays a critical role in aligning an organisations technology strategy with its business mission, strategy and processes. They create and maintain architectural models, ensuring they embody key principles that describe the organisations future state and enable its evolution. Enterprise Architects work across various domains, including business, data, applications and infrastructure technologies. Direct the identification, evaluation and adoption of new or existing technologies to improve business processes, aligning business strategies, enterprise transformation, and technology strategies. Investigate business situations where there is some complexity and ambiguity. Engage with and influences senior stakeholders to improve the business value delivered from new or existing services and products. Lead and manage the creation or review of a strategy that meets the requirements of the business. Initiate productive working practices for remote, virtual and onsite working and ensures the availability of support for employees. Plan and lead the identification and assessment of emerging technologies and the evaluation of potential impacts, threats and opportunities. Create technology roadmaps that align organisational plans with emerging technology solutions. Engage with, and influences, relevant stakeholders to obtain organisational commitment to technology roadmaps. Lead development of a culture that encourages innovation, risk-taking and collaboration. Embed innovation processes throughout business units and links strategy execution with innovation. Within a defined area of accountability, determine the requirements for appropriate governance reflecting the organisation's values, ethics and wider governance frameworks. Communicate delegated authority, benefits, opportunities, costs, and risks. Coordinate all aspects of management of the life cycle of information systems. Champion and lead in the development of an organisational knowledge management approach. Shares different approaches for knowledge sharing across communities of practice, business units, and networks. Contribute to identifying new areas of capability improvement within the organisation which may be enhancements to skills, technology or processes. Align existing organisational structures, roles, jobs, and career paths to new processes. Advise on implications of introducing new workplace models and tools. Determine and maintain organisational development needs in line with business needs and strategic direction. Generates development strategies to achieve required change. Develops and leads communities of practice, including defining career pathways. Forms, maintains and leads workgroups and individuals to achieve organisational objectives. Prioritise areas for quality improvement by considering strategy, business objectives and results from internal and external audits. Initiates the application of appropriate quality management techniques in these areas. Plan and manage the acquisition and deployment of resources to meet specific needs and ongoing demand. Direct the development of enterprise-wide architecture and processes to embed the strategic application of change in the management of the organisation. Lead the selection and development of software design methods, tools and techniques. Develop organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software design and software architectures. Provide organisational leadership and guidelines to promote the development and exploitation of specialist knowledge in the organisation. Maintains a network of recognised experts (inside and/or outside the organisation) who can deliver expert advice in relevant areas. Act as the routine contact point between the organisation and supplier Key criteria Education and knowledge Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience working in a senior technology role 5+ years in a technical role, across IT, with an additional 10+ years enterprise experience as a senior Software Engineer or Architect 5+ years experience in Healthcare or Financial Services, or equivalent regulated industry 5+ years experience in a senior technical delivery role or as a Technical Project Manager Cloud vendor certifications (such as AWS, Azure); experience on any of the latest enterprise architecture patterns such as event-driven, server less, micro services Knowledge of end-to-end Software development lifecycle and development frameworks like Java, .Net and Flutter. Knowledge of Architecture methods like Togaf Demonstrate good understanding of insurance and healthcare IT markets and its challenges and how ICT can help achieve business outcomes A successful track record as a Senior Technical Architect with minimum five years at a senior level and experience of delivering to strict target dates and/or service levels Proven experience in IT technical change with in-depth knowledge of the organisations technical architecture a distinct advantage Proven record of achievements in leadership and innovation Experience of cloud migrations Technical In-depth understanding of technical concepts and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical business leaders Experience in industry-standard frameworks with ability to enforce architecture disciplines where necessary. Good knowledge of enterprise architecture concepts through practical experience and exposure to industry models and frameworks e.g. TOGAF Knowledge of/passion for business and technology trends such as AI, Micro-services/Containers/APIs, Blockchain, etc Broad knowledge of established and emerging technologies, and a point of view about industry solutions and their application to business situations Interpersonal skills Embraces a culture of continuous improvement with strong collaboration, communication, colleague engagement and empowerment skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical and impactful manner Have a people-orientated approach to work a team player as well as a leader, with a genuine interest in developing those around you Demonstrated alignment to the Vhi values Vhi is an equal opportunities employer.
