Lead Environmental and Sustainability Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental and sustainability initiatives across the group, ensuring compliance with external accreditations, including Ecovadis, Sedex, and ISO 45,001.
  • Assist site environmental audits and compliance with our Environmental Management System (EMS) and planning conditions.
  • Research and engage with the procurement team on environmental/sustainability elements, waste reports, and environmental management plan support.
  • Complete an Environmental/Sustainability course to assist in rolling out a group-wide program.
  • Investigate memberships, such as IGBC, and research sustainable low-carbon concrete, diesel alternatives, and plastic-free options.
  • Represent Mercury on external groups and bodies linked to our industry, monitoring ESG-related industry updates and requirements.
  • Assist divisions with CPD, Materiality surveys, tenders, and other external requests.
  • Liaise with the financial team to collate and finalise the annual sustainability report for the group.
  • Finalise KPIs based on correct baseline assumptions.
  • Guide, train, coach, and mentor our team through the ESG journey, informing and educating them on critical aspects and requirements.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar roles.
  • Previous experience in Construction Operations.
  • Professional certification to level 7 QQI minimum.
  • Qualified to Diploma level as a minimum with the qualification in Environmental or EHS.
  • Travel will be required for this position.
