Lead Environmental and Sustainability Specialist

As a leader in environmental and sustainability, you will be responsible for ensuring the Environmental and Sustainability elements of external accreditations are delivered, including Ecovadis, Sedex, and ISO 45,001.

You will assist in site environmental audits and compliance with our EMS and planning conditions, research sustainable low-carbon concrete, diesel alternatives, and plastic-free options.

Representing Mercury on external groups and bodies, you will monitor ESG-related industry updates and requirements, and assist divisions with CPD, Materiality surveys, tenders, and external requests.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead environmental and sustainability across the group
  • Ensure Environmental and Sustainability elements of external accreditations are delivered
  • Assist in site environmental audits and compliance with EMS and planning conditions
  • Research sustainable low-carbon concrete, diesel alternatives, and plastic-free options
  • Represent Mercury on external groups and bodies
  • Monitor ESG-related industry updates and requirements
  • Assist divisions with CPD, Materiality surveys, tenders, and external requests

Essential criteria for the role include:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar roles
  • Previous experience in Construction Operations
  • Professional certification to level 7 QQI minimum
  • Qualified to Diploma level as a minimum with the qualification in Environmental or EHS
  • Travel will be required for this position
