Location/Office Policy: Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 with Hybrid Working The Risk function is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls, and supports all risk-taking activities across AIB. Our objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management structure and culture to take intelligent risk within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of its customer franchise and social responsibility. Within Risk, the second line of defence assurance function provides effective monitoring of all risk-taking activities across AIB. The Head of Second Line Assurance is now seeking applications from experienced professionals who are keen to pursue an opportunity at Senior Management level as the Head of Assurance Enablement. What is the Role: The Head of Assurance Enablement is a senior position with direct responsibility for leading the implementation of a revised Target Operating Model "TOM" for Second Line Assurance (SLA) and its operationalisation. The role will be at the forefront of driving effectiveness across the function and ensuring the team is structured and resourced to meet the needs of an evolving Risk function and the Bank. The role holder will drive assurance standards and will be responsible for leading out the strategy of SLA to be a data led assurance function. This role requires a strong leader with presence and drive, capable of designing and implementing cross-functional initiatives and engaging with the Executive, Board and Regulators, External Auditors and other senior stakeholders as required. Key Accountabilities; Develop a comprehensive data led assurance approach that aligns with the organisations risk profile and strategic objectives. Drive continuous improvement in assurance methodologies and practices. This involves staying abreast of industry best practices and emerging risks to enhance the effectiveness of second line assurance activities. Responsible for leading and developing strategies to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of assurance activities in the Bank. Work alongside the Head of SLA as part of the management team. The role will involve collaboration across the team to implement best practices, drive continuous improvement and ensure that assurance processes are aligned with the organisational strategy and regulatory requirements. Consider how we can harness the power of data risk tools and technology to safely simplify processes and enhance assessment, assurance, and reporting. This will include the build of the data capability for SLA including the identification of data requirements. Lead engagement on how Gen AI can be harnessed to ensure more robust assurance outcomes. Central point of contact for the creation of regulatory information packs, including Regulators, Internal Auditors, External Auditors as required. Minimum Criteria: Minimum of 7 years proven experience of Risk Management or Organisational Change in a Financial Services environment and associated risks. A clear understanding and knowledge of control and change management methodologies. An exceptional role model with proven communication style to lead the 2LOD Assurance enablement function, interact cooperatively with stakeholders of the business, ExCo, Board and Regulators. Seasoned leadership experience with demonstrated capability of leading, developing, coaching, empowering, and trusting in people. A track record of managing teams of analysts to deliver projects to tight deadlines. Clear and concise oral and written communication skills with an ability to produce and present high quality reports.
