Head of Cloud Operations Job Description

MCS Group is seeking a seasoned Head of Cloud Operations to drive cloud strategy and lead a growing team of technical experts. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in management/technical leadership within cloud operations, with a strong focus on AWS (Amazon Web Services).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Lead the automation of operational processes and deployments using Python and other scripting tools.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Develop and enforce cloud security strategies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of cloud-based solutions.
• Own the cost management and optimization of cloud resources, ensuring efficient utilization.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on cloud architecture, driving innovation within the infrastructure team.
• Liaise with clients and be the subject matter expert for any cloud-related issues.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in management/technical leadership within cloud operations with a strong focus on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and infrastructure management.
• Experience with cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
• Strong understanding of networking, storage, and compute in a cloud environment.
• Expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Solid experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously.
• Full right to work in Ireland or UK.
