About the Role: We are seeking a Regional Head of EMEA Compliance Director to join our team. You will contribute to Remitly's mission by ensuring that Remitly's EMEA business maintains full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will manage legal and regulatory risks, using your strong analytical skills and keen eye for detail to adapt Remitly's services and controls to new business opportunities and changing regulatory requirements. You will be part of a global regulatory compliance team who works closely together and supports each other. You Will: Support the business to grow in a manner which is compliant and scales, and in line with our risk appetite. Work with the business to ensure Remitly manages the Compliance risks that it faces. Be in a senior leadership role focused on and responsible for ensuring that Remitly operations are effective in countering the risk that our services might be used or targeted for financial crime activities. Partner with the business to support compliant business growth leveraging solutions that scale across regions. Maintain oversight of the changing regulatory environment of the EMEA region, and work closely with the Director of Regional Compliance to ensure executives are kept informed on regulatory developments and their business impact. Implement Remitly compliance strategy, policy and standards, controls, systems and ensure they are implemented at the regional level. Lead the EMEA team to work with relevant contacts in business, risk and central compliance functions to ensure consistent application, implementation, and controls to evidence related AML standards, policies and procedures. Provide strategic direction and guidance for compliance related issues including the implementation of a risk management framework. Provide advisory services to the business to ensure clear understanding of financial crime risk exposure for clients, transactions and products. Engage with key regulators, law enforcement, and other government bodies and agencies on regulatory and licensing matters. Provide Board reports as required, and support the local Compliance Heads on subsidiary board reporting and matters. You Have: 12+ years of experience in a compliance focused role and preferably with regulatory experience; Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Auditing or related field. Understanding of the regulatory landscape in EMEA. Sufficient background to satisfy any pre-appointment checks to be appointed as the AML/CTF Compliance Officer of the relevant regulators. Independence and tenacity to work as a self-starter, but also works well under direction and in a team setting. Comfortable managing numerous aspects of a compliance program in multiple jurisdictions, not only AML/CTF compliance. Knowledge and experience with PSD2, Outsourcing and other regulations impacting our business. Willingness to travel to Remitly's Global headquarters in Seattle, Operations Centers and offices in Europe. Estimated travel is 15%, but may be more in the first year of employment.
