Job Description

Oliver James has partnered with a niche insurer within the General Insurance space to appoint a Chief Compliance Officer into the firm. The focus of this role will be to provide oversight and guidance to the business and board on all aspects of Compliance in which the business is exposed. This is a pre-approved control function by the CBI and will be a key member of the Senior Management team while also leading the compliance strategy for the firm.

The successful candidate will have a varied day-to-day which may look like but not be limited to the below;

  • To strategically manage and continually develop the Compliance Function of the firm.
  • Oversee and manage the company's compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements and carry out regular Horizon scanning and signposting.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the compliance frameworks and related policies
  • Implement a robust compliance monitoring plan and report any breaches and remedial action required to senior management, the board and where appropriate the relevant regulatory body.
  • Report on the overall compliance exposure to the board and the senior management team as required.
  • Establish effective internal governance procedures and monitor adherence to the same.
  • Responsibility for oversight of compliance for the firms outsourced service providers.
  • Maintain the relationship and be accountable for the Central Bank of Ireland and other regulatory authorities on the firms matters relating to compliance.

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes;

  • Strong and detailed understanding of the CBI's regulatory requirements including Solvency II compliance and risk management requirements.
  • A minimum of 5+ years Compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of regulations applicable to the sale and administration of Insurance across the EEA
  • Understanding of UK FCA and PRA regulatory requirements for third country branches.
  • Ability to contribute at a strategic level
  • A legal qualification would be advantageous
