Role Title: Head of H&W Risk Management
Role Location: Abbey Street, Dublin/Hybrid
A full-time and permanent position has arisen within Vhi for a Head of Risk Management, Vhi Health and Wellbeing, the successful candidate will drive the development and operation of the Risk Management Framework in Health & Wellbeing so we effectively improve risk controls and oversight for H&W & Group Management and Board in alignment with the Group Risk Management Framework.

Role Purpose
  • Ensure the effective identification, assessment and monitoring of risks and controls in H&W. Supporting and challenging and bringing cross Group Best Practice.
  • Produce reports (in an independent 2nd line capacity) for H&W management, executive and Board. Ensure reports fairly represent risks and control status to the audience.
  • Work closely with the staff in the Vhi H&W entity to provide support, explanation and training on risk management practices in a healthcare setting and identify ways to integrate with QSR processes.
  • Support the Group Risk Officer and Chief Clinical Office in implementation of the Group wide Risk Management Framework in the Vhi H&W entity. Represent H&W considerations in the overall Group Framework (e.g. Group Policies and RAS).
  • Lead out on maintaining the entities Risk Register in conjunction with the first line of defence. Drive quality and usability of these Risk Registers (e.g. control rationalization). Help consistency and efficiency across H&W business units.
  • Develop and maintain Policies, procedures, risk assessment templates and other Risk Management documentation related to the H&W entity.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and maintaining Key Risk Indicators (KRI's) relevant to a healthcare setting & support H&W with Remediation Plans.
  • Ensure that there is alignment between Group Risk Management practices and localised processes that are in place.
  • Provide relevant input and report on risk data at the Quality, Safety and Risk meetings in the H&W entity. Ensure there is an understanding of the Group context and an understanding in Group of H&W risks controls and the impact on them of Group operations.
  • Review ongoing risk monitoring, testing, incident reporting with the H&W business units and support in remediation of risk issues get appropriate input from clinical experts (internally and externally).
  • Research and keep up to date with trends and changes in risk and regulation and changes in healthcare including healthcare, regulations and best practice making recommendations around use of best practice risk management practices, tools and techniques to VHI.
  • Manage and lead out on other ad-hoc projects, meetings, action and minute taking, reporting and internal reviews on behalf of the Group Risk Management function and H&W management as required.

Education & Experience
  • Qualification in Risk Management - minimum Level 7 equivalent
  • Degree or equivalent in Business, Healthcare or a related area .
  • 5 years+ experience in risk management role with experience of healthcare organisations preferable
  • Demonstrated alignment to Vhi values

Skills and Abilities
  • Proven ability to design and deliver training and presentations internally on behalf of the risk function
  • Proven experience of developing a positive risk culture and profile
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation
  • Proactive around change and innovation on risk and business processes.
  • Understanding of how to translate business priorities to framework priorities.
  • Solution focus, analytical thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables within tight frameworks
  • Good understanding of healthcare practices, QSR and clinical risk structures, & regulations
  • Business and report writing skills for internal and external use
  • Strong presentation skills and management of key stakeholders
  • Accountability and ownership, proactive around own, people and process development in line with the Group Risk Management Function and business objectives.
  • Customer & patient view and focus with ability to question and challenge from risk perspective within VHI organisation.
