Job Description

Leitrim County Council comprises 18 Elected Members (Councillors), employs a workforce of approximately 350 and has adopted a Revenue Budget for 2024 of €52.6m. The Council is mandated to deliver a diverse range of functions and services which can be broadly described under the headings of economic development, community development, the provision of physical and social infrastructure, recreation and amenity services, and the enforcement of the planning and environmental regulatory framework. The Council, as a key public service, has two major responsibilities - to provide good quality accessible services in an efficient and effective manner and to exercise our civic leadership role to promote the economic, social and cultural development of the County in a balanced and sustainable manner. The Council operates in a dynamic and uncertain environment however which has altered dramatically in recent years and such changes present significant challenges and demand a flexible and responsive organization to keep pace. An opportunity now exists in Leitrim County Council for the position of Head of Information Systems. Reporting to the Director of Services, the Head of Information Systems (HIS) is the senior management position within the Information Communications Technology (ICT) function of the Council. The appointee will work closely with the Chief Executive, Directors and Senior Management team and will lead a department which is responsible for the planning, development, control and maintenance of ICT. As Head of Information Systems, the successful candidate will be expected to implement and develop the ICT strategy/vision to support the overall Corporate Plan of the Council and ensure best practice standards and codes of practice. The appointee will have an important role in the management of staff within the department and will be expected to advise the Senior Management Team on all ICT issues.
