Head of IT Operations

We are seeking a Head of IT Operations to join the Chief Transformation & Technology Office.

The role reports directly to the Chief Transformation & Technology Officer and is a member of Eir Grid's extended leadership team.

  • Lead the operations, monitoring, and maintenance of business-critical applications and tools.
  • Ensure high availability of core applications and tools, and effectively manage and evaluate the performance of business systems and tools.
  • Lead and motivate a high-performing team to deliver strategic objectives.
  • Exemplify and role model the values and leadership behaviours expected of a senior leader.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure appropriate maintenance of business systems and tools.
  • Lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and testing of crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans.

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned IT leader with deep expertise in operations and maintenance of 24/7 mission-critical applications and tools in the utility industry.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Information Technology or a related field (MBA preferred).

  • Deep expertise in business continuity and crisis management processes for mission-critical business systems and tools.
  • Strong strategic thinking and vision, with the ability to understand and translate business objectives into actionable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience, and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Strong leader in managing budgeting, funding requirements, financial management, and identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Experience working in government, public sector, or regulated industries is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills to align programs with organizational goals and government priorities.
