Head of Research - Educational Research Centre (ERC) The Educational Research Centre (ERC) was established as a Statutory Body in accordance with the Education Act (1998) in September 2015 but has been in existence since January 1966. Since its foundation, the ERC has become an internationally recognised centre of excellence in research, assessment and evaluation in education. The work of the ERC has contributed significantly to the development and evaluation of educational policy and practice in Ireland. In particular, the ERC continues to develop assessment and test instruments. The Educational Research Centre (ERC) is now seeking to appoint a Head of Research, an exciting new leadership role which will play a key role in providing strategic oversight of ERC’s research activities. The Head of Research will work closely with Research Fellows and Research Project Managers to bring strategic coherence to the various research projects undertaken by the ERC. They will oversee the strategic and dissemination elements of all the ERC’s research studies, projects and evaluations. The Head of Research will also be the principal contact with the Department of Education for all research matters and will represent the ERC at various external meetings with stakeholders, events, and conferences. The successful candidate should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in a discipline relevant to the work of the ERC. They should have a strong track record in overseeing high-quality, impactful research and have previous experience in research strategy development. The ideal candidate would also have experience engaging with external stakeholders, particularly policy makers and funding bodies. They should have a strong leadership style with the ability to lead, motivate and guide others.
