**Head of Business Development** **Job Summary:** Lead the development and growth of DHL Global Forwarding (Ireland) Limited, driving strategic partnerships and customer-centric culture. Background Information Role Title: Head of Business Development Business Unit: DHL Global Forwarding (Ireland) Limited Location: Flexible: Dublin, Shannon Our growth over the past number of years is based on our success in developing and growing strong niche sectors while fostering and embracing a strong customer-centric culture across our organisation. The successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Management Team and will have responsibility to build on this success, while engaging and aligning with our CEO and each of the Product Heads to develop, communicate and deliver on a clear Business Development Strategy for DGF IE. **Key Responsibilities:** * Build and maintain strategic relationships with customers and stakeholders * Develop and implement a clear Business Development Strategy for DGF IE * Lead the Business Development team, comprising Operational & Key Account Owners, Product Subject Matter Experts, Product Route Development Managers, and Sales Support teams * Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to drive business growth and customer satisfaction * Identify and leverage opportunities for DGF IE growth, including strategic partnerships and new markets * Develop and implement a growth strategy leveraging the skillsets in the wider organisation to convert opportunities * Ensure a clear focus on communication, team building, employee engagement, and development * Recognise and leverage the potential value of the RCC (Regional Customer Centre) to the DGF IE business growth strategy * Participate in the implementation of operational processes and perform work to the standards of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) for Life Science business, as required * Ensure operational compliance to all revenue and international trade legislative requirements, and all requirements under data protection legislation in addition to all DGF IE policies and procedures (H&S, Quality, Environmental, HR, etc.) **Competencies:** * Making Customers More Successful: + Maintains effective relationships with customers + Develops, commercializes and delivers high quality, innovative services and solutions + Inspires customers and gains their commitment + Gains organisational alignment and support for their customers' needs * Shaping Direction: + Ensures strategies/plans are aligned and reflect other views + Develops strategies/plans aligned to broader organisational strategy + Communicates strategy * Driving High Performance: + Establishes clear, challenging and achievable objectives + Aligns resources and the organisation within own area of responsibility to achieve objectives + Regularly reviews and communicates progress against objectives and adjusts as needed + Champions continuous improvement and innovation + Inspires results and respect by empowerment, accountability recognition, and rewards recognising the contribution of others * Developing Others: + Provides employees, colleagues, and business partners with candid and regular feedback + Provides employees with development opportunities + Supports employees with career opportunities + Inspires others to develop themselves * Developing Self: + Conveys a clear sense of personal goals and values + Actively seeks feedback to improve performance + Develops new skills and modifies behaviours based on feedback + Takes personal responsibility for career and development **Requirements:** * Proven track record in a similar role at senior level * Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Freight Forwarding industry * Experience of operating in a fast-paced dynamic organisation * Proven solution design and problem-solving skills * Excellent negotiation skills * Strong presentation skills * Good networking and influencing skills * Ability to connect and engage with all stakeholders in a respectful manner * Ability to balance conflicting priorities * IT - generalist knowledge - MS Word, Excel, Power Point, CRM * Requirement to travel internationally when justified by business development * Full current driving licence
