Job Description

A Health and Safety Advisor is required to develop and implement a safety program, ensuring compliance with government regulations and technical standards, for a global construction and maintenance company.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the safety program to ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and technical standards.
  • Review and update Health and Safety documents, including Health and Safety Procedures, Safety Statement, Risk Assessment, etc.
  • Liaise with contracting team to promote change management, legal compliance, behavioral-based safety, and a continual improvement approach.
  • Undertake scheduled Site Audit Inspections and communicate the results of site inspections to site managers and the Health and Safety Manager to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver and complete any statutory notifications to the relevant authorities in line with the Construction Regulations and associated Project safety construction plans, Risk assessment, and method statements.
  • Support the accident and incident reporting structure in accordance with Company Policy and take an active part in accident investigation, root cause analysis, and the corrective and preventive action management.
  • Deliver Health and Safety related training/induction to staff, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Plan Health and Safety frequent inspections & audits, ensuring coverage of all activities and in line with company protocols.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction, or Engineering.
  • 3-5 years experience of Health and Safety in quarrying, road maintenance, construction, or related industries.
  • Working knowledge of SHWWA 2005 and associated Legislation.
  • Experienced in Auditing (and/or Safe T Cert).
