Health and Safety Officer A leading player in the Construction Materials Processing Industry is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Cork. THE COMPANY: With over 100 years of practice, our client is a market leader in the construction material processing industry across Ireland and the UK. They have built a sterling reputation not only for excellence and quality products but also for strong relationships with their large client base. With a workforce in the hundreds and a turnover in the high millions, our client is looking to expand their highly successful team with a talented on-site Health & Safety Officer. THE ROLE: Based at their site in Cork, the successful Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: Designing, managing, and implementing Health & Safety policies and systems specific to the Cork site. Performing risk assessments, producing method statements, and conducting site inspections and audits. Implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and safety standards are met. Overseeing site inductions and delivering manual handling training to employees. Documenting accidents/near misses and driving corrective changes to prevent future incidents. Managing all Health & Safety paperwork and liaising with senior on-site management regarding H&S strategy. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the design and creative implementation of Health & Safety measures-not just performing checks and inspections, but actively shaping safety policy and ensuring innovative and effective safety practices on-site. THE PERSON: We are looking to speak to candidates with the following backgrounds: Ideally, a strong background in Health & Safety within the manufacturing or production sector, although a robust Health & Safety background in construction will also be considered. Experience working at a senior level is an advantage, but it is not a prerequisite, provided the candidate is capable of functioning at a senior level. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with all levels of staff and management. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential safety issues.
