Job Description Summary:
Caregiver required to assist with daily care and activities for residents in a nursing home, providing support with personal care, meal service, and maintaining a safe environment.
The successful candidate will assist in the direct care provision of all aspects of the residents' needs, which may include:
- Assisting residents with washing, dressing, and undressing.
- Participating in basic nursing care under the supervision of trained staff, including bed bathing, pressure area care, mouth care, and eye care.
- Assisting with toileting needs, including continence promotion.
- Changing beds, tidying residents' rooms, and doing light cleaning.
- Assisting with mobility issues, including those related to mobility aids.
- Helping with the serving of meals and drinks, feeding residents who are unable to feed themselves.
- Assisting with the admission and discharge of residents, including listing of resident's property and clothing.
- Conveying relevant information about service users to the nurse in charge, updating the individual plan of care, and providing appropriate care.
- Assisting with weighing residents.
- Reporting any accidents or untoward incidents to the nurse in charge.
- Maintaining confidentiality regarding resident's particulars.
- Assisting with activities within the Home.
- Maintaining a safe environment for staff, residents, and visitors, aware of health and safety policies, and attending training as required.
- Attending training programmes/courses to further existing knowledge.
- Answering the telephone, taking clear messages, and contacting the nurse in charge immediately.
- Undertaking any other duties as required to keep the Nursing Home running smoothly, as delegated by the trained nursing staff or PiC.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be prepared to train and complete FETAC Level 5.
- Have demonstrated the ability to work both as a team member and on own initiative.
- Be prepared to attend training sessions deemed necessary by management.
- Demonstrate loyalty, flexibility, and commitment to the Care Home.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From €13.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 39 per week

Licence/Certification:
- Level 5 in healthcare support (preferred)
- Driving Licence (preferred)
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare (preferred)
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (preferred)
