The role of Healthcare Assistant (HCA) was introduced in 2001 as a member of the healthcare team to assist and support the nursing function. The HCA plays a critical part in the provision of care in the health service, supporting multi-disciplinary teams in delivering high-quality care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing assistance, support and direct personal care to patients
