Job Description

Healthcare Desktop Engineer Unijobs on behalf of our public sector client have a requirement for a Healthcare Desktop Engineer to join their Healthcare Transformation Program. The duration of this post is 11 months initially with likely extensions thereafter. The role will be based fully onsite in Dublin 9. Working 35 hours per week, the successful candidate will be employed as an agency employee and will be paid an hourly rate of €30.17 per hour based on an annualised salary of €55,093. You will accrue 30 days annual leave per year and paid Bank Holidays. Role Overview: As a Healthcare Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the desktop and end-user computing environment as the new applications are rolled out. You will ensure the smooth operation of desktop systems, troubleshoot technical issues, deploy hardware and software, and provide end-user support. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in desktop support, healthcare applications, and an understanding of industry regulations and standards. Key Responsibilities: Desktop Support and Maintenance: Provide technical support for desktop systems, including hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal disruption to end-users. Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to desktop systems to ensure optimal performance and security. Collaborate with technical teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems. Deployment and Configuration: Deploy, configure, and maintain desktop hardware, peripherals, and software applications in compliance with organisational standards and policies. Image and deploy desktops, laptops, and mobile devices with standard software and configurations. Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure timely and efficient rollout of hardware and software updates or upgrades. Application Support: Provide support for healthcare-specific applications used on desktop systems Troubleshoot application issues, perform application installations, and assist end-users in utilising the applications effectively. Security and Compliance: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and security best practices. Implement and enforce desktop security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and access controls. End-User Training and Documentation: Develop and deliver training materials and sessions to educate end-users on desktop systems, software applications, and best practices. Provide effective and friendly end-user support, assisting with questions, issues, and inquiries. Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience (5+ years) as a Desktop Engineer or similar role, preferably in a healthcare environment. Strong knowledge of desktop hardware, operating systems (Windows), and software applications. Familiarity with healthcare applications, and clinical decision support tools. Proficient in desktop imaging and deployment tools Understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols. Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security measures. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise technical guidance to non-technical end-users. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
