Role/ Department: The HR Consultant / Advisor acts as a consultant to managers and individual contributors providing HR guidance to relevant internal client groups. Consults with management regarding the interpretation and application of corporate human resources programs. Builds and maintains relationships with managers and delivers Human Resource solutions that effectively address business issues and needs. Ensures compliance with all employment and labour laws. The focus of this role is primarily on day-to-day risk mitigation, providing guidance on the application of HR policies and programs. The key responsibilities of the role include: Consults with managers on a variety of employment related situations and partners with managers on change initiatives with people impacts. Provides guidance and leadership to managers and partners on dispute resolution, disciplinary action, regulatory compliance, problem solving, redundancy and litigation avoidance. Acts as a liaison between managers, HR Business Partners and other HR functions to ensure coordinated efforts in line with internal client needs. Supports the implementation of HR programs (career planning, performance management, etc.) and coaches managers in supporting a culture committed to employee engagement, development and growth. Ensures compliance on HR-related company guidelines and policies, as well as compliance with all regional, country, local and company regulations. Maintains an awareness of, and partners with Talent Acquisition to help achieve a high quality, diverse talent pipeline. May participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives to improve HR processes and collaboration Handles highly sensitive, confidential work Skills/ Qualifications: Experience in consulting, business partnering or employee relations Solid understanding of risk associated with employment law Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication skills to effectively collaborate with employees and management at all levels Experience working with clients in multiple jurisdictions advantageous Exceptional ability to organize and execute responsibilities Working with Us: As a Northern Trust partner, greater achievements await.
