Job Description

Job Summary: The Marine Institute seeks a Human Resources professional to support the delivery of corporate services and compliance with HR services and governance requirements.

The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation. We aim to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland's marine resource, promote sustainable development of marine industry, and safeguard the marine environment.

This role offers a fulfilling and responsible position in a busy environment working on interesting and varied services and projects, involving confidential information. You will have a significant role in supporting the delivery of and compliance with the Human Resource services and governance requirements linked with multiple externally funded Projects and Service Level Agreement (SLA) programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of corporate services and compliance with HR services and governance requirements.
  • Produce and implement a Learning & Development Strategy for the organisation.
  • Manage projects, staff, and budgets.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Provide support to employees on personal/developmental issues.
  • Deal sensitively with others and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Requirements:

  • A relevant third-level qualification in Human Resources or a business subject with a Human Resources focus.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a supervisory or lead role in a human resource environment.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in producing and implementing a Learning & Development Strategy for an organisation.
  • High levels of computer literacy, including MS Office packages and HR Management Information Systems.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and understanding of Irish employment law and current HR-related legislation and practices.
