Job Description

Position Description A vacancy exists for the position of Hydro Team Member, Ardnacrusha Generating Station. This is an opportunity to work as part of a leading-edge team in Ireland's Ardnacrusha hydro power generating station and the entire Shannon Scheme. We have been generating electricity on the Shannon since 1929. Our station has a combined generating capacity of 86 MW. This comprises of 4 power turbines (G1 - G4: Rated at 21MW, 22MW, 19MW and 24MW respectively) and all the associated dams, weirs, gates, and civil structures associated with the Shannon hydroelectric scheme. Ardnacrusha Generating Station is a high efficiency producer of renewable energy and is part of ESB's goal to reach Net Zero by 2040. As a member of the station team, the Hydro Team Member will be required to work across all functional areas including maintenance, operations, technical services, facilities, civil and dam safety, supervision, and contractor management. The successful candidate will be required to work to the level of their competence to carry out their duties. They will provide support to other teams and projects. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others is required. The successful candidate will give and receive training as defined by plant management to attain and maintain competencies. Key Responsibilities Duties of the role includes but may not be limited to: Delivering and supporting work across all areas of the station. Working safely, flexibly and to competence, as part of the overall team. General Site / Facilities Services and Maintenance works e.g., concreting works, property repairs, equipment checks, waste management etc. Fixed and mobile plant operation, equipment checks, deliveries, and collections. Assisting Operations and Maintenance Hydro Team members Witnessing and operating gate movements during water control operations. General Administration duties including ordering, goods receipting, etc. Ordering of equipment and stores items, stock checks Use of ESB IT systems for maintenance and administration duties. Carry out authorized roles under the safety rules as required. The successful candidate will be required on occasions to have flexible working hours including weekend and night working and be available for call-outs. Experience and Qualifications Essential Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Awareness Hold a full valid B driving license Applicants must be proficient in the use of computer systems (Word, Excel etc.) Excellent communication skills. Desirable Experience in industrial plants and /or construction or building maintenance works. Relevant CSCS tickets and qualifications Awareness of Safe System of Work Experience using SAP or other procurement systems. Experience using Maintenance Management Systems. Location This position will be based in Ardnacrusha Generating Station, Castlebanks, Limerick, Co Clare, V94 VR0K.
