Legal Counsel for H&MV Engineering

H&MV Engineering is a leading global provider of specialist design, engineering, and construction services across various sectors, including data centres, renewables, and transmission and distribution utilities.

We are seeking a qualified legal counsel to join our team, with a strong background in corporate, commercial, or construction law, and experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.

The successful candidate will work closely with our commercial and operations teams to provide legal advice on various matters, including contract disputes, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements, including construction contracts with clients, partners, and suppliers.
  • Providing legal advice on applicable law, regulatory, and legislative changes in Ireland and other jurisdictions.
  • Assisting with contract disputes and claims, and providing ongoing advice to the commercial and operations teams.
  • Assessing potential mergers and acquisitions and related due diligence.
  • Maintaining legal documents and contracts library.
  • Drafting and contributing to company policies and strategy.
  • Keeping the company's standard subcontract and other templates up to date.
  • Assisting with risk or compliance matters, including insurance, data protection, and employment.
  • Liaising with legal advisors across Ireland, UK, and EEA.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Irish/UK solicitor with 2+ years PQE, corporate, commercial, or construction and/or litigation experience.
  • Team player with ability to manage relationships at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, lead and manage projects, and drive results while working autonomously.
  • Commercial acumen with ability to identify potential legal issues while considering commercial impact.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience drafting/negotiating construction contracts, such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC forms of contract, advantageous.
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Office.
  • SharePoint experience advantageous.
