Information Technology Security Engineer summary: Protect company data and infrastructure while collaborating with technical and non-technical teams in a dynamic and innovative work environment.

This role is a remote opportunity open to candidates residing in Ireland or the UK. As a dynamic and innovative company, Velocity EHS is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices. The expected salary range for this position is between €65,000 and €75,000, based on candidate's proficiency in skill set, prior relevant experience, internal equity, market considerations, and other factors.

The IT Security Engineer role plays a pivotal part in protecting data and infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting the assessment of and the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of security systems and tools.
  • Participating in security incident response planning, training, and investigations.
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses.
  • Managing the processes for communicating findings from assessments to appropriate personnel and managing the mitigation and remediation processes.
  • Providing support for compliance efforts by assisting in the implementation and maintenance of security compliance frameworks and standards.
  • Monitoring and analyzing security logs and alerts to identify potential threats or breaches.
  • Assisting in the configuration and management of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security devices.
  • Managing processes and procedures to ensure that personnel responsible for patching and maintaining systems, software, and networks have timely access to information regarding potential issues and remediation steps.
  • Conducting security awareness training and promoting a culture of security within the organization.
  • Collaborating with IT teams to ensure the secure configuration and maintenance of systems, software, and networks.
  • Assisting in compliance audits and assessments, including preparing documentation and evidence to demonstrate adherence to security controls and requirements.
  • Staying updated on the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of existing programs and tools to maintain a cost-effective program.
  • Enhancing and raising the cultural awareness of information security, privacy, and compliance within the organization.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with SIEM tools and architecture.
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques for penetration testing or security assessment.
  • Experience with encryption tools and techniques.
